NEW “Hemingway’s Wyoming” Weekend Writing Retreat

Left Bank Writers Retreat explores some favorite Hemingway haunts in Wyoming – August 12 – 14, 2016


Each summer, since 2009, Darla Worden, founder and director of the Left Bank Writers Retreat, has led a group of writers from around the world to Hemingway’s favorite Paris places. This year she adds a new retreat in Wyoming, to introduce writers to Hemingway’s Wyoming haunts.

“We’ll explore places where Hemingway worked on A Farewell to Arms, as well as the country that inspired his short story ‘Wines of Wyoming.’ says Worden. “We’ll be writing at the historic Spear-O-Wigwam dude ranch where he wrote and fished.”


Friday, August 12:

  • Cocktails at the Historic Sheridan Inn

Saturday, August 13, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM:

  • Drive up Red Grade to Spear-O-Wigwam
  • Morning writing
  • Picnic lunch
  • Afternoon writing
  • Happy hour

Sunday, August 14 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM:

  • Morning writing
  • Lunch
  • Optional: Big Horn Polo match

Price $230 per person transportation to from Sheridan to Spear-O-Wigwam, picnic lunch and snacks on Saturday, lunch on Sunday, and cocktail hour. (Writers are responsible for their own lodging.) Each day the retreat will meet on the front porch of the Sheridan Inn.
